9. John FODEN⁷ was born on 13 Nov 1718 in Hulme Walfield, Cheshire.^3,6 John's birth is recorded in a family bible (his birth has never been found amongst parish records). It looks like William and John are twins although William's birth was not originally recorded in the bible (it has been written in later). In 1750 he was a farmer.⁷ He died on 11 Jan 1775 in Hulme Walfield, Cheshire.^8,9 His name appears as 'Jno.' in Astbury Parish records. This is interpreted as 'John' in the Bishops Transcripts for Astbury.

John FODEN and Martha SLATER were married on 18 Apr 1737 in Astbury, Cheshire.^3,4,8 Martha SLATER (daughter of Nathan SLATER and Elizabeth CHADDOCK) was born on 7 Sep 1717.³ She died on 30 Apr 1756.³ She was also known as Mary.³ John FODEN and Martha SLATER had the following children:

13	i.	Leah FODEN was christened on 6 Feb 1739.3 hough this does conflict with an entry on the IGI which ststes a christening date of Jan 1740, Congleton, Cheshire)
14	ii.	Nathan FODEN was christened on 2 Feb 1745.3
15	iii.	John FODEN was christened on 25 Jan 1747.3
+16	iv.	James FODEN.

John FODEN and Ann LINDOP were married on 20 Dec 1756 in Astbury, Cheshire.^3,4
