20. James FODEN was christened on 9 Nov 1794 in Astbury, Cheshire.17 (On the IGI this is listed as 1795 rather than 1794) He appeared in the census in 1841 in Eaton, Cheshire.20 He appeared in the census in 1851 in Eaton, Cheshire.21 In 1851 he was a Labourer.21 He died on 19 Dec 1865.11 There is a query as to whether this is the correct death date because the 1861 census lists James' wife, Mary, as being "W" or widowed. I reckon the "W" could represent "wife" and also the James Foden grave inscription is right next to what would be his son's grave (Nathan Foden). So I believe this is correct although this would mean that James was for some reason not at home when the census was taken in 1861. He was buried on 22 Dec 1865 in Astbury, Cheshire.22

James FODEN and Mary FORD were married on 22 Jan 1826 in Astbury, Cheshire.5 They were married by license. Mary FORD (daughter of Living and Living) was born in 1800. She appeared in the census in 1841 in Eaton, Cheshire.20 She appeared in the census in 1851 in Eaton, Cheshire.21 She appeared in the census in 1861 in Eaton, Cheshire.23 In 1861 she was a Housekeeper.23 She appeared in the census in 1871 in Eaton, Cheshire.24 Address on census was given as Dane Bank Road or Eaton Bank. She died on 13 Feb 1874.11 She was buried on 18 Feb 1874 in Astbury, Cheshire. James FODEN and Mary FORD had the following children:

Isaac FODEN25 was christened on 18 Feb 1827 in Hulmwalfield, Cheshire.26 He appeared in the census in 1881 in Bunce Lane, Marton, Cheshire.27 He is lodging with the Lawton family (Samuel Lawton, farmer of 110 acres employing 3 labourers). It is likely (though not conclusive) that Isaac is one of these 3 labourers. Isaac is described as being married but is apparently not living with his wife on the night of the census. In 1881 he was a farm servant (indoors).27 He died on 4 Mar 1904 in Mid Bank Cottage, Marton, Cheshire.2
